Industry: The great transformation of the industrial center

Marco Muro: The entire world is paying more and more attention to cities, and the success of cities is based on society's cohesive power. Bilbao, Spain's successful transformation has triggered a tremendous response in the world and some cities are under similar transformations. They are treating rivers in a brand-new way to achieve higher levels of social harmony, and transforming from the industrial economy to a creative economy in order to seek a sustainable urban development mode.

Bilbao is an important city in northern Spain and has a population of more than 350,000. Including the surrounding cities, the entire population of the greater Bilbao area reaches nearly 900,000. As a typical case of "Better City, Better Life," Bilbao has successfully been selected to the Shanghai World Expo's Urban Best Practices Area for exhibition.

White clouds floating in the blue sky, glistening water in the Nervion River flowing through the city, fish in the water can be seen clearly, green grass on both banks, ancient and modern buildings stand harmoniously side-by-side, citizens walking and chatting in the shade and tourists carrying bags busily taking pictures of the beautiful scenery are what people see and experience when they visit Bilbao.
