China, U.S. respect each other, seek win-win outcome

Chinese President Hu Jintao's state visit to United States (January 18-21) has been a great success. Through the four-day historic trip, China and the United States reached broad consensus in building a cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and mutual benefit. This is a crucial pledge both nations have taken to the world via joint efforts at the historical juncture, when humanity enters a new era. This also represents a vital strategic information both nations pledged their mutual confidence in stabilizing bilateral ties and world situation as a whole.

In view of the importance of both China and the United States and the fact that both nations continue moving at the relatively high status, their stable ties not only benefits the people of the two nations but also has the increasing security and economic impact on the global scale. Accordingly, stabilizing and developing Sino-American ties have a valuable objective China, the U.S. and the world community have been exerting to seek.

Treating each other amicably and communicating with each other candidly and straightforwardly, the two heads of state had an extensive exchange of views on a range of major urgent issues, and reached a fuller understanding of each other's opinions, thus reducing differences, promoting mutual trust and making very positive progress. As a matter of fact, China and the United States have their own precedence in their perspectives on national development and in handling global issues, and so they will have differences as a matter of course. Covergence of both sides' interests and their moderate docking with anticipation of international community will facilitate taking into account of each other's concerns and winning global support.

It is the positive content of the latest summit disclosed to emphasize their national interest and world obligations, and to underline deepening bilateral engagement and coordination and penetrating the beneficial cooperation with international partners and agencies. The (economic) development of China and the U.S., the world's two biggest economies, are affecting the entire mankind most profoundly.
