The fight that occurred on June 26 at the Xuri Toy Factory in the city of Shaoguan, south China's Guangdong province, is an ordinary incident relating to a group fight, which was also in the process of being settled or tackled.

However, it was played up by some people with ulterior motives overseas with a lot of noise, and so the riot acts of beating, smashing, looting and burning erupted on July 5 in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region. The evil, sinister intention of its masterminds was to exploit the opportunity to make trouble and go in for ethnic separation.

World Uighur Congress, led by Rebiya Kadeer, aroused local outlaws to launch "something more courageous and even bigger", as the congress, unreconciled to see prosperity and stability in Xinjiang and the region's multi-ethnic unity and harmony, has been bent on committing crimes through terrorist violence, and this has always been their persistent practice. The barbarous atrocities would have occurred on any other day if they had not happened on July 5 and, if the "June 26" Shaoguan incident was not the immediate cause of the atrocities, it could be used as the pretext for any other contingencies as well.

The gimmicks of the Congress are simply to distort facts, hoodwink and incite people to do evils and spread the ethnic hatred. Once any acts of violence occur, they would soon shirk off their responsibilities and impute blame on the Chinese government. They have all along told Western world that theirs is a non-violence organization, which has noting to do with terrorism anyway.

In March last year, when some elements for the "independence of East Turkistan" failed in an attempt attack on China Southern Airline Flight CZ6901, World Uighur Congress spokesman Dilixiati immediately came out to assert that it was the plot of the Chinese government. This time, his statement of July 6 on the July 5 Urumqi bloody riots has followed the same pattern.

To make people consider China practising ethnical discriminations, they have confused the right and wrong and turn things upside down. In present-day China, massive migration and extensive flows of labor force become a very common and normal phenomenon, but they nevertheless deem it unusual or abnormal for ethnic minority people to work in the interior areas. They fanned up the July 5 incident with an aim to create the sentiments of estrangement or hatred among the people of different ethnicities, go on to sow discord, irritate those people who do not know the truth, and intensify contradictions they have hatched up. So, cadres and the masses should see clearly how things stood and stay vigilant.

The July 5 incident is by no means an ethnical issue, though the exterior splitting forces very much want to turn it into a type of ethnical contradiction. The incident, as a matter of course, has jeopardized the interests and wellbeing of people, and this is something all those who aspire for genuine ethnical unity and social harmony really do want to see at all. Hence, in face of such violence, the multi-ethnic people in the region should exercise great restraint and keep sober-minded, and unite with a shared hatred against rioters, so that separation forces outside China's boundary will fail completely with their scheme to split the motherland.

The unity of the motherland, the harmony among different ethnicities and stability of society as a whole is an aspiration of all ethnicities in China, including the Uighur people, as well as the common interests of the entire Chinese nation. No action designed to create disturbances or to split the motherland will be permitted by the people of all ethnicities in the country.

It is a sacred obligation for the Party and government to settle conflicts or disputes within the scope of the responsibilities as prescribed by the Chinese Constitution and relevant laws, which is sure to be endorsed and supported by cadres and the masses of people. Any activities attempting to split the motherland will never be allowed to succeed.
