U.S. police has found Olympic aerial silver medalist Jeret Peterson dead in a remote canyon in Utah and called it a suicide.
The 29-year-old freestyle skier, who finished second at last year's Vancouver Games, called emergency services before shooting himself, according to the police, who found his body late on Monday night between Salt Lake City and Park City in Lambs Canyon.
Peterson had been cited for drunken driving Friday in Idaho and had pleaded not guilty.
Having problems with alcohol and depression, Peterson had admitted that he had the thoughts of suicide, all stemming from a childhood in which he was sexually abused and lost his 5-year-old sister to a drunken driver.
