Qinghai Province will host a national hot-air ballon classic match in Haixi, a national rock climbing tournament match in Xining and a hiking event across the Qaidam Basin in the second half of 2011.

The 2011 National Hot Air Balloon Classic, the highest-level domestic large air sports event, will be held in Delingha of the Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture between July 14 and 17. It will be the third time for Qinghai Province to host national-level hot air balloon events. The top-30 domestic hot air competitors will participate in the event. The site of the event has an altitude of 2,980 meters, posing a formidable challenge to competitors.

Qinghai will also host the 2011 National Rock Climbing Tournament at the International Rock Climbing Gym of the Qinghai Provincial Fitness Center between Aug. 26 and 27. Up to 100 "spiders" from more than 20 teams across the country will participate in the event.

The "2011 Hike across the Qaidam Basin" event will be held in the Qaidam Basin of Qinghai between Sept. 18 and 25. The event will be jointly hosted by the Chinese Mountaineering Association, the Qinghai Provincial Bureau of Sports, and the Haixi prefectural government. It is also one of the activities of the 10th Tour of Qinghai Lake International Cycling Race. By then, 50 hikers from around the country will reveal the mysterious "wonders" in the Qaidam Basin to the world.
