Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo said Friday that he was pleased with the impact new arrivals Fabio Coentrao and Rafael Varene have had on the Real Madrid squad.

Coentrao and Varene both played in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Chivas Guadalajara on Wednesday night in a game won by Ronaldo's second half hat-trick.

Coentrao, who began pre-season training with his former club, Benfica, before moving to Real Madrid, consequently looks sharper than his new companions, while Varene, who was signed from French side, Lens, had a comfortable game in defense.

"All of the new signings have surprised me so far and they are all doing very well," said Ronaldo in Friday's edition of sports paper Diario AS.

Real Madrid are still without new arrivals Nuri Sahin and Hamit Altintop, who both have physical problems, while Javier Callejon, who signed from Espanyol during the summer, entered the match as a second half substitute.

"We all feel good. We have only started pre-season and we are training flat out in order to get into our best form," explained Ronaldo from his side's training camp in Los Angeles.

"It is good that I was able to score three goals in less than 10 minutes against Chivas, but we have to continue to work hard in order to start the new season in the best possible shape," he added.

Real Madrid will finish their American tour this weekend with a game in Philadelphia, before returning to Europe where they have matches against Leicester City in England and Hertha Berlin in Germany.

The side coached by Jose Mourinho will then fly to China where they play two further games against Guanzhjou Evergrande on Aug. 3 and against Tianjin Teda on Aug. 6.
