Uruguay's Vice President Danilo Astori on Monday gave the soccer national team the national flag and wished them success during their participation at the America's Cup in Argentina 2011.

"We trust a lot in this team and the hope goes beyond the soccer," Astori said during the ceremony at the training center of the team.

Astori said the Uruguayans are "proud of being represented by this team," because "the national team is known in the world not only for soccer but also for its human quality."

Meanwhile, Sports Minister Hector Lescano said that the team "has unanimous support; we join the national feeling."

"We are here accompanying them with soul and heart," he said.

The flag-bearer is Diego Forlan. The team will be formed by 23 players among 26 already chosen, and will travel on Friday to Argentina in order to face Peru on July 4, in its first match of the Cup.

Uruguay is in Group C together with Peru, Chile and Mexico.
