In the cross-town showdown between rivals Flamengo and Botafogo on Sunday in the 5th round of the 2011 Brazilian Championship, the two teams battled to a scoreless draw.

Botafogo played much of the match with one more player than Flamengo due to Dario Bottineli's expulsion from the match in the 23rd minute. Nevertheless, Botafogo was unable to capitalize on its advantage, resulting in a dismal 0-0 draw.

The scoreless draw was the first of this year's competition.

Flamengo will host Atletico-MG on June 25 in the 6th round of play. On the following day, Botafogo will take on Gremio.
