Manchester United swept Schalke 2-0 in their Champions League semifinal first leg in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, on Tuesday.

Ryan Giggs broke 67 minutes of deadlock and Wayne Rooney added the second three minutes later after being set up by Javier Hernandez.

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are fighting for the other final berth.
