Liverpool sent off Manchester City 3-0 at Anfield as Andy Carroll scored twice on Monday.

Liverpool were far from introducing their strongest squad as captain Steven Gerrard and Daniel Agger both out for the season and Glen Johnson also absent due to injury. However, the visitors failed to take the chance and even let the Reds play the upper hand right from the start.

Carroll opened the score in the 13th minute with a low strike and it's the first goal since he joined Liverpool with a 35 million contract this January.

The former Newcastle star then headed home in the 35th minute, one minute after Dirk Kuyt doubled the advantage with a side-foot finish.

Man. City couldn't make any threat and suffered not only the defeat but also the injury of Argentine striker Carlos Tevez.

Tevez limped off after 16 minutes with a hamstring strain, leaving people doubt about his participation in the FA Cup semi- final against Manchester United on Saturday.
