Gremio beat Atletico-MG 2-1 Sunday on the the road in the 25th round of the Brazilian Championship.

The win marked newly signed Dorival Junior's first loss as head coach of Atletico-MG.

Gremio took an early lead by scoring in the very first minute of play. After an Andre Lima shot on goal, Jonas cleaned up the rebound, putting his team on top in the first seconds of play.

The team increased their lead in the 14th minute when Gabriel fired a ball out of the reach of keeper Renan.

Atletico-MG's only goal came in the 30th minute when Diego Tardelli took advantage of a loose ball, heading it into the back of the Gremio net.

Gremio's Jonas scored his 13th goal of the tournament, a league high. The team improved to the tenth place with 33 points. In the 26th round of play, the team will host Sao Paulo on Wednesday.

Atletico-MG remains in serious threat of being lowered to the second division (Serie B) of the 2011 Brazilian Championship. The team dropped to the nineteenth place with 21 points. In the next round of play, the team will travel to face Atletico-MG on Wednesday.
