Vasco da Gama received a 1-1 tie as they host Avai in the 22nd round of the Brazilian Championship on Thursday.

Vasco da Gama scored the game's first goal in the 24th minute. Dribbling to the bottom of the left side of the field, Eder Luis crossed the ball to Ramon who cut between defenders to head the ball into the goal.

The home team appeared to have secured the Avai offense until they gave up the tying goal in the 74th minute. Receiving the ball after keeper Fernando Prass defended a shot on goal, midfielder Caio quickly reacted and blasted the ball past Prass and into the goal, scoring the equalizer.

The draw improved Vasco da Gama to 10th place with 29 points and they will travel to face Internacional in the next round on Sunday.

Avai also improved in the standings, reaching to 15th place with 25 points. In the next round of the team will take on Gremio.
