Palmeiras had to settle for a goalless draw with Vasco da Gama in the 21st round of the Brazilian Championship on Sunday.
Midfielder Valdivia was in his 100th career match with Palmeiras, but the he, entering the match in the second half of action, was only able to take one shot-on-goal, leading to head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari' s disappointment. Despite more opportunities in the second half, the team was unable to score.
The result leaves Palmeiras in 12th place with 26 points. In the 22nd round of play, the team will travel to play Gremio on September 15.
Vasco da Gama remains in ninth place with 28 points. The team will host Avai on September 16 in the next round of play.
