Front runners Fluminese squandered an early lead to lose 2-1 to Atletico-GO in Saturday' s 21st round match of the Brazilian Championship.

Fluminense opened the scoring in the 22nd minute as Conca set the ball up for an approaching Washington who then tapped the ball into the back of the net.

Atletico-GO responded in the 29th minute when Robston dribbled past defenders Mariano and Valencia, firing the ball into the upper left corner of the Fluminense goal, past a diving keeper Fernando Henrique.

As time was winding down in the first minute of stoppage time, Atletico-GO' s Diogo Galvao crossed from the left side of the field to Juninho who then pushed the ball into the open net.

Atletico-GO' s surprising win takes them to 17th place with 20 points. In the 22nd round of play, the team will travel to face Santos on September 15.

Despite the loss, Fluminense remains in first place with 41 points. In the next round of play, leader Fluminense will host second place Corinthians on September 15.
