Vasco da Gama was held 1-1 by visitors Atletico-MG in the 20th round of the Brazilian Championship on Thursday.
Vasco da Gama scored the game' s first goal in the 37th minute. Receiving the ball from Fagner, Eder Luis dribbled past the defense to open up room enough to blast the ball into the upper left corner of the goal, blowing past keeper Fabio Costa.
Atletico-MG was awarded a penalty kick in the 85th minute after Nilton tackled Daniel Carvalho in front of the net. Ricardinho converted the kick, giving his team the tying goal.
The result keeps Vasco da Gama in ninth place with 27 points. In the 21st round of play, the team will travel to face Palmeiras on September 12.
Atletico-MG remains in seventeenth place with 17 points. In the next round of play, the team will host Gremio Prudente on September 12.
