On the road against Ceara in the 19th round of the Brazilian Championship on Saturday, Vasco da Gama won by the score of 2-0.
Ceara's loss was their first at home since July 15, stretching over six games.
In the 7th minute of action, Carlos Alberto dribbled down the middle of the field and passed the ball off to Eder Luis. Luis allowed the ball to pass through, finding an un-marked Ze Roberto who then drilled the ball into the back of the goal.
The team's second goal came from Felipe Bastos in the 82nd minute. Off his own rebound from an indirect kick, he blasted a ball past goalkeeper Michel Alves.
After three consecutive draws, Vasco da Gama's win takes them to 26 points, remaining in seventh place. In the 20th round of play, the team will receive Atletico-MG on September 9.
The loss keeps Ceara in eighth place with 25 points. In the next round of play, the team travel to play leader Fluminense on September 8.
