Despite a coaching change, the Flamengo soccer team lost 1-0 on Wednesday to Cruzeiro in the 18th round of the Brazilian Championship.

The defeat marks Silas' first game as head coach of Flamengo.

On a fast-break, Montillo centered the ball to Thiago Ribeiro who attempted to place the ball into the empty goal, but Flamengo's Correa deflected the shot. Off the rebound, Robert followed up to push the ball into the open goal.

The result takes Cruzeiro to fifth place with 28 points. In the 19th and last round of the first half of play, the team will travel to play Palmeiras on September 5.

Silas and Flamengo dropped to 14th place with 21 points. The team desperately needs to win their next match against Santos on September 5 in order to keep from slipping dangerously low in the tournament.
