In the 13th round of the Brazilian Championship, the Corinthians soccer team beat visiting Flamengo 1-0 on Sunday.

Despite his recent accolades from teammate Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo remains sidelined, recovering from a calf injury.

Corinthians scored the game's only goal in the 38th minute. Jucilei rolled the ball off to an open Elias who then invaded the Flamengo defense and fired the ball into the left side of the goal, past Flamengo's diving keeper Lombo.

The win keeps Corinthians in second place with 28 points, just one point behind leader Fluminense.

In the 14th round of play, head coach Adilson Batista and the rest of the Corinthians team hopes to have Ronaldo back on the field against home team Avai on August 15.

Flamengo's loss keeps them in 10th place with 17 points. In the next round of play, the team will host Ceara on August 14.
