Real Madrid flies to U.S. to continue season warmups

The Real Madrid first team squad flew to Los Angelesthis Wednesday to continue its preparations for the new season.

Although Cristiano Ronaldo returned to training on Tuesday after the World Cup finals, 10 more players, including players such as World Cup winners Iker Casillas and Alvaro Arbeloa and runner up Rafael Van der Vaart, are still enjoying their holidays.

They will meet up with the squad next Monday, while players such as Kaka, Gonzalo Higuain and new signing De Maria will to do so on July 31.

To compensate for the missing faces, Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has taken five members of the club's B-team to the U.S.: Morata, Tebar, Alex Fernandez, Nacho and Juanfran have all boarded the plane to America.

The club will play two preparation matches while in California: the first is against Club Americain San Francisco's Candlestick Park on August 4 and three days later they meet David Beckham's LA Galaxyin the Los Angeles Rose Bowl.

After completing its American visit Real Madrid will return to Europe to complete its preparations for the forthcoming season with games in Germanyand Belgiumagainst Bayern Munich and Standard Liege.
