Avai tied Atletico-MG in a scoreless match in the 11th round of the Brazilian Championship on Saturday.

Atletico-MG has star midfielder Diego Souza in their line-up for the first time after bringing in the player from Palmeiras. However, the team was unable to break through the home team's defense, leading to a scoreless draw.

The result was not desirable for the coach of Atletico-MG Vanderlei Luxemburgo. The team was unable to climb out of the tournament's last four places. The team currently stands in seventeenth place with 10 points. In the 12th round of play, the team will host Cruzeiro on August 1.

Avai remains in sixth place with 16 points. In the next round of play, the team will host Goias on August 1.
