Flamengo was held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Avai in the 10th round of play in the Brazilian Championship at the Maracana stadium on Wednesday.

Flamengo scored the game's first goal in the 10th minute. After a quick give-and-go from Leonardo Moura, Diego Mauricio advanced towards the goal and fired a bullet into the right corner of the net for his first goal as a professional.

Avai came back to tie the match in the 74th minute when Gabriel sent the ball directly to the goal and out of reach of goalie Marcelo Lombo. It was Lombo's first goal conceded since he assumed the starting position after Bruno was incarcerated.

Now Flamengo drop one spot to fifth place with 16 points. In the next round of play, Flamengo will travel to play at Internacional on July 25.

Avai also dropped one position, standing in seventh place with 15 points. The team will host Atletico-MG on July 24.
