Paraguay forward Roque Santa Cruz was voted the Man of the Match after the 0-0 tie with New Zealand guaranteed the South Americans top finish of 2010 FIFA World Cup Group F on Thursday.
Cruz, 29, plays for English Premier League side Manchester City.
In the eyes of Paraguay, Cruz is more than just a talented football player. The well-travelled striker is considered something of a footballing ambassador for the country and has played a significant role in opening the way for several of his compatriots to triumph abroad.
