The Chilean national soccer team returned to the World Cup finals after 12 years of absence, hoping to repeat the third place finish in 1962.

Argentine coach Marcelo Bielsa was able to transform one of the worst performing South American teams into the second best at the continental qualifiers for the World Cup finals.

Bielsa, who had coached club Newell's Old Boys, Mexican clubs Atlas and America of Mexico, Velez Sarsfield and Espanyol of Barcelona, also returns to the World Cup for his own revenge after his disappointing performance as Argentina's coach in Germany 2006, where it was the favorite but eliminated in the first round.
