In front of their home crowd in the opener of the 2010 Brazilian Soccer Championship on Sunday, Ceara defeated Fluminense 1-0.
Fluminense's loss marked their third straight defeat under new head coach Muricy Ramalho.
The game's only goal came in the 37th minute. Fluminense's Cassio shoved Geraldo to the ground inside the penalty box, leading to a Ceara penalty kick.
Geraldo took the kick himself and fired the ball into the right side of the Fluminense net.
Ramalho will look to regroup and find his first win when Fluminense hosts Atletico-GO on May 15. Ceara will hope to continue with their positive start to the tournament on May 16 when they travel to play Santos. Enditem
