Bundesliga record champion Bayern Munich utilized the opportunity against Hamburg to displace Leverkusen from the first position on Sunday.

Bayern returned to the top of the Bundesliga table for the first time since 2008 thanks to a 1-0 home victory and the goal less faux pas by Leverkusen against Cologne on Saturday.

While at the lower Saxony derby, defending champions Wolfsburg extended Hannover' s run to nine losses.

The Bavarians started highly motivated while the visitors Hamburg needed some time to find into the match. As the match progressed, Hamburg strarted attacks, but both teams failed to exploit their goal scoring scenes within the first half.

After the break, both teams staged a match played at a high pace. With 78 minutes into the matche, Bayern midfielder Franck Ribery hammered the ball from inside the box into the centre of the goal to mark the final 1-0 score.

Bayern killed the clock to jump on first position with 52 points, a two-point lead over second positioned Leverkusen, followed by Schalke with 48 points.

On Sunday, Wolfsburg patiently waited until the 78th minute when midfielder Zvjezdan Misimovic netted the winner for Hannover.

Hannover gave everything but was unable to make threatening actions against well-positioned Wolfsburg defence. Hannover sticks on relegation spot while Wolfsburg climbed from 12th to 11th position.
