Hosts Goias clinched a 2-1win over Gremio to climb into the second place after the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship on Sunday.

Gremio broke the ice first in the 17th minute when Jonas rolled the ball off to a wide-open Souza who had only the task of tapping the ball in.

Goias tied the game just before half time. In the 33rd minute, Julio Cesar crossed the ball towards the Gremio net. Leo Lima out-jumped the defense and headed the ball towards the ground, bouncing into the net and equalizing the match.

Capitalizing on a defensive error and a loose ball in front of the Gremio net, Felipe blasted the ball into the back of the net, giving his team an important victory in the 81st minute.

With 45 points and in second place, Goias stands five points behind first place Palmeiras. Gremio did not budge as they remain in 6th place with 39 points.
