Germany's midfielder Bernd Schneider is set to return for training with Bayer Leverkusen this weekend after recovering from the knee strain he picked up last September.

Schneider, 33, has only just returned to running and is one of Germany's first-choice midfielder, including Michael Ballack and Torsten Frings, missing from Saturday's Euro 2008 qualifier clash with Cyprus in Hanover.

The midfielder picked up a knee injury in his side's UEFA Cup clash against Uniao de Leiria on 20 September and will resume training with Bayer's squad on Sunday.
