Ecuador's Vice President Lenin Moreno on Thursday said he will head the sports delegation which will attend the World Special Olympic Games of Athens 2011 to be held from June 26 to July 4.

"It's an honor to head this delegation, to accompany them," said Moreno, who himself has been disabled since suffering a violent robbery 10 years ago in which he was hit by a bullet.

Moreno, who heads most of the government social programs in the country for people with different disabilities, told reporters that during the current administration of President Rafael Correa "the feeling of solidarity with the disabled has been turned on like the Olympic torch."

The Ecuadorian delegation is composed of 53 sportsmen, who were selected after the 16th National Games of Quito in December 2010. The Ecuadorian delegation will travel to Greece on June 18.
