Ukraine Olympic stadium for Euro 2012 to be Green

Kiev Olympic Stadium which will host the final match of Euro 2012 Soccer Championship is preparing by the Green Stadium system and it will be environmentally friendly arena.

"We are building not just a stadium, we are creating the future. Each of us concerned about what awaits our children. Therefore, the National Sport Complex ( NSC) "Olympic" is positioned itself as a Green Stadium," Vladimir Heninson, the stadium operation director, said Monday in an interview to the Information center Ukraine 2012.

According to the official, all materials for NSC will be certified in Europe and in Ukraine as safe and harmless. Also, organizers plan to use recycled materials.

Heninson added that the European practice of sorting garbage will be used during the building of the "Olympic".

"We would like to make our arena a recreation area for the whole family, not just men who are football fans, " he said.

Kiev "Olympic" stadium was built in 1923, but was re-builded 4 times and being reconstructed again for Euro 2012. After the reconstruction the arena will contain nearly 73.000 seats. The stadium is supposed to host group matches, quarter-final and the final game.

The Euro 2012 European Soccer Tournament will be hosted by Poland and Ukraine between June 8 and July 1 next year. One year before the Championship reconstruction of all the sports objects in two countries is almost done. The National Stadium in Warsaw to host the first match of Euro-2012, will be opened in October this year, the opening for Kiev "Olympic" stadium is scheduled for August 2011.

Four Polish cities are hosting the tournament, including Warsaw, Poznan, Gdansk and Wroclaw. Ukraine's host cities are Kiev, Lviv, Donetsk and Kharkov.

Donetsk, Poznan and Kharkov have already opened the stadiums that will be used for Euro 2012.
