The Indonesia Open golf tournament will be once again held in the capital city of Jakarta on July 14-17.

"Indonesia Open presented by Enjoy Jakarta, is a main sport event in our country that has seized coverage from international media. This tournament is very much suitable for Jakarta considering that Asia-Pacific is our market target," said Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo in a press release here on Monday.

Top golfers will compete in the tournament with total prize of 1 million U.S. dollars.

"The tournament always presents the best golfers and this will be conducted in one of the best golf courses we have. We are proud to present the prestigious tournament in Asia-Pacific," said Bowo.

Arifin Panigoro, chairman of the Indonesian Golf Association, said that with such huge prize, great sponsors, the best Asia Pacific golfers and many slots for Indonesian golfers, the committee could not expect more.

"We feel that Indonesia Open has a great formula and we are looking forward for the first ball to be hit when the tournament is kicked off on July 14," said Panigoro.

Indonesia Open is the second event presented by OneAsia, a non-profit organization formed by several golf associations in Asia-Pacific, in 2011 following the opening tournament of Indonesia PGA Championship last month.

"In the tournament, we saw an Indonesian young golfer, Rory Hie, occupying the second rank. That was an inspiring performance of a shining Indonesian young golfer," said Sang Y. Chun, chairman and commissioner of OneAsia.

The Indonesia Open started its debut in series of OneAsia tournament in 2010 when Michael Henry from New Zealand championed the event.
