Valencia Football Club this Thursday announced the signing of Almeria goalkeeper Diego Alves for the club.

The club President, Manuel Llorente gave the news while speaking on Radio 9 in Valencia.

He said that the club has also extended the contract of young goalkeeper Vicente Guaita and is interested in French striker Kevin Gameiro for next season.

"It's our aim to bring him here and it looks as if the player is also interested in coming," said Llorente of the player who is currently with Lorient.

Alves moves to Valencia after four seasons with Almeria. He has earned a reputation as a goalkeeper who has fast reflexes and who is also an expert in saving penalty kicks.

Vicente Guaita returned to Valencia this season following a successful loan spell with second division Recreativo Huelva in which he was awarded the "Zamora" award for the best goalkeeping record in the category.

The 24 year-old has made 21 league appearances this season following an injury suffered by veteran Cesar Sanchez, who will be out of contract at the end of June.
