Mexican gymnasts Juan Jose Quiroz, Ivan Veloz and Jimmy Alfaro have secured their tickets to the Universiade 2011 in China, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) said in a statement on Thursday.

The tournament will be held from August 12 to 23 in Shenzhen in China's Guangdong province, the UNAM said.

The gymnasts secured their qualification after obtaining a First Ranking by the Mexican Gymnastics Federation during the Flacon Cup at the University of Veracruz held last week.

Quiroz, an accounting student, is the first gymnast of the UNAM team to secure a ticket to the Universiade.

"The next step is to get a place among world's best by wining gold in the Universiade of China," Quiroz said in the statement, adding that he will work "together with my mates" during the summer holidays in order to be in the best form possible.
