"Unfortunately running is not the best discipline for some of our guys. We give it our best shot, but it will be a losing battle.
"I know China performed below their ability's in the first three events. I have a lot of respect for the Chinese team. They always have good runners, are always in good shape and are good sportsmen. Normally China will win, once again."
Apart from the team ranking, Dasbjerg has to defend his personal top spot and he has more confidence in keeping the individual gold.
"Hopefully I can leave the Chinese behind me, although He Shugan is a good runner. In 2004 in Chili, he won the Military Pentathlon by beating me in the cross-country. I hope I can make it now," he said.
The Chinese women are quite certain of gaining another title as they strengthened their position by winning the obstacle run.
Second Lieutenant Liu Kun secured the individual event together with Cadet Gong Yanyan 2:23:20. Cadet Zhang Xue finished fifth and Major Tian Linna posted a 37th place.
In the overall standings Liu Kun kept the lead before Russian Warrant Officer Julia Naumova and Zhang Xue. Gong Yanyan moved to the fourth place and defending champion Tian Linna is 24th.
The fifth and final pentathlon contest on Wednesday, the men's and women's cross country, will decide the final standings. It could become a Chinese day.Source: Xinhua
