Yuriy Metlushenko of Ukraine's Amore &Vita-conad has taken out the rain-soaked fifth stage of Tour de Qinghai Lake on Wednesday, adding this win to a stage victory he took unexpectedly after Ivan Stevic's disqualification as the fourth stage winner for offensive gesture.

Loborika's Rogina Radoslav retained his yellow jersey for successive five stages. Kiel Rejinen of Jelly-Belly from the United States grabbed the green jersey and Iranian Ghader Mizbani of Tabriz Petrochemical kept the blue jersey as Asia's best rider and jersey for king of the mountains.

It is a grueling day for riders as they rode on the roads more than 3,500 meters above the sea level under annoying rain throughout the stage. Riders tumbled like dominos in the rain and littered the road in the 120-kilometer-trek from Qinghai Lake to Bird Island.

"I joined the race last year and I know that it always rains during the race. So I put on more clothes and the rain doesn't influence me," said Metlushenko after the win, who finished the stage in two hours 52 minutes and 35 seconds. But not anyone felt comfortable in the low temperature of only nine degree centigrade and some complained that the low temperature made their muscle rigid.

Ten riders crashed when riding down the mountain due to the slippery road. But no one got hurt.
