Agents of the Venezuelan National Guard seized 1.8 tons of marijuana in Merida state early Tuesday morning, 420 kilometers southwest of Caracas, Venezuela's capital.
Director of the National Anti-Drug Office Nestor Reverol told the state-run Bolivarian News Agency that the illegal load was hidden in a cooling vehicle with a fish load.
The Venezuelan authorities have seized this year more than 26 tons of different kinds of drugs.
Reverol added that the load was coming from La Fria town in Tachira state, some 100 km northeast of the place where it was seized. During the operation one Colombian citizen was detained.
