Fasion, cool games and high prize money on offer at Volkswagen Cup in Guangzhou

World leading men and women paddlers have gathered for the highly rewarding Volkswagen Cup in Guangzhou on Monday, while cute games have been designed with spectacular pairs lining up for the gala.

The two-day tournament features world No. 1 players Ma Long and Liu Shiwen of China, reigning European champions Michael Maze of Denmark and Wu Jiaduo of Germany, as well as all-time leaders Timo Boll of Germany and Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus.

A total of 250,000 U.S. dollars will be offered as prize money for the men's and women's singles competitions with winners each pocketing 50,000 dollars plus a Volkswagen Tiguan car.

On the other hand, a host of celebrity table tennis names will be present for the spectacular pairs competition with a total of 15,000 dollars prize money.

China's Guo Yuehua and Chen Xinhua will line up alongside Japan's Koji Matsushita and Hiroshi Shibutani, Sweden's Ulf Carlsson and Jnrgen Persson and Belgian brothers Jean-Michel and Philippe Saive, with a pair of women players, Hungary's Krisztina Toth and Renata Strbikova of the Czech Republic, completing the list.

Also Bettine Vriesekoop of the Netherlands and Japan's Naomi Yotsumoto will bring fashion to the table tennis event, as the former said before arrival that the sport must be cool, and the latter's innovate designs on her competitive outfits have attracted a great deal of attention in Japan.
