Canadian Hamelin wins men's 500m short track speed skating at Vancouver Games

Canadian Charles Hamelin astonishingly clinched the title of the men's 500m short track speed skating at the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games here on Friday.

Hamelin, finished the race first in 40.981 seconds, giving the host its first short track speed skating gold in Vancouver.

South Korean Sung Si-Bak took the silver medal in 41.340 seconds and three-time Olympian Francois-Louis Tremblay added a bronze for Canada in 46.366 seconds.

The defending champion Apolo Anton Ohno from the United States was disqualified.
