The Canadian city of Quebec is considering a possible bid to host the Winter Olympics of 2022, announced Monday the Quebec Premier Jean Charest.

"I cherish the dream to get the Winter Games in Quebec City. 2022 seems a good date," he told a press conference in Vancouver to mark the "Day of Quebec".

"We consider this a possibility. A working group will meet with organizers of Vancouver 2010. My opinion is that we launch this application because the city of Quebec is tailored to accommodate the Winter Olympics," he added.

Quebec City is one of the oldest European settlements in North America. It's the capital of the Canadian province of Quebec and the second most populous city in the province, after Montreal.
