Colombia seeks to host Pan American Games in 2015

Colombia seeks its capital, Bogota to host the 17th Pan American Sports Games of 2015, as also Lima, Peru and Toronto, Canada are candidates.

According to the Organizing Committee's website, many Colombian outstanding sportsmen, like skater world's champion Cecilia Baena and swimmer Moises Fuentes Rocha, winner of the bronze medal in the Paralympic Games of Beijing 2008, have joined the mission.

Also baseball player Edgar Renteria, and Colombian soccer star Carlos Alberto "El Pibe" Valderrama will be part of the mission aimed to promote Bogota as hosting city of Games in 2015.

The Organizing Committee said "the Colombian sportsmen aware of the importance of hosting the Pan American Games will join the delegation of Bogota 2015, to tell the world the importance of sports in Colombia."

On Nov. 6, Bogota will give the final presentation to the Pan American Sports Organization (ODEPA) in Mexico Hall of Hilton Hotel in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The ODEAP Assembly will be hosted with the attendance of the presidents and secretary generals of the 42 Olympic Committees of the Americas, and the representatives of all the Pan American Sports Confederations.

Bogota has all the sports infrastructure needed to host the Games and it can also build an Olympic Village very near to the places where the competitions would take place, without having problems of mobility and transportation for the city neither for the competitors.
