China's high-ranking sports officials will come to Harbin to evaluate the feasibility of the city's bid for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

Harbin, capital city of northern province Heilongjiang, failed to make the shortlist for the 2010 Games which will be held in Vancouver in February next year.

An unnamed official from Harbin Sports Bureau said Thursday that they are willing to bid for the 2018 Games but have to wait for the evaluation from the State General Administration of Sports, China's sports governing body.

"Representatives from the administration will arrive in Harbin in a couple of days and evaluate the feasibility of the bid with local officials," said the unnamed Harbin sports official.

The official revealed that Changchun of the neighboring Jilin province also showed interests in the bid.

The International Olympic Committee launched the bid process for the 2018 Games at the end of last month. China need to put forward the name of a bidding city by Oct. 15.
