The Olympic Committee of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) held an annual meeting "a few days ago" for reviewing and planning, the official KCNA news agency reported on Monday.

The DPRK players played well in 2008, bagging 149 medals including 51 gold medals in the 29th Olympiad, 2008 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup and other important international games, said RiNam Chol, secretary of the committee.

The committee set this year's tasks as striding forward in the events of football, weightlifting and gymnastics, the report said.
