China picked up a Beijing Olympics-based women squad on Saturday for the gymnastics World Cup Final next month in Madrid.
China gymnastics administration center announced the participation of Cheng Fei, Yang Yiling, Li Shanshan, He Kexin andJiang Yuyan in Madrid's Women's competitions and Zhang Hongtao in Men's.
China won its first ever women's team title in Beijing Olympics with a squad mainly composed of the World Cup Final line-up. He Kexin grabbed the uneven bars for the host and Yang Yiling was the bronze medallist in women's all-around.
Top eight gymnasts per apparatus from the latest FIG rankings are eligible for the event, and it's up to them to confirm their participation.
Other names on the definitive list for women include Elena Zamolodchikova from Russia, Sandra Izbasa of Romania and Suzanne Harmes from the Netherlands. For men, Anton Golotsutskov of Russia,Yuri van Gelder and Jeffrey Wammes from the Netherlands, Yann Cucherat from France, Philippe Rizzo of Australia and Evgeni Sapronenko from Latvia have confirmed.
A minor disappointment, however, with the withdrawal of Fabian Hambuchen and Oxana Chusovitina from Germany, Gervasio Deferr of Spain and Ana Pavlova of Russia, who for reasons of injury or a compromised physical condition will not be participating. Source: Xinhua
