Xu Chengliang of Shanghai won the men's one-meter springboard gold at the 2008 National Diving Championships here on Saturday.
The Shanghai veteran Xu overcame a frustrating start during the final to win the gold at 484.00 points.
"I am very excited as this is my first gold medal," said Xu. "I overcame the pressure and performed my normal level."
Lin Jin of Guangdong finished second at 476.95, while his teammate Luo Yutong took the bronze at 474.70.
Luo, winner of the event at 2007 Melbourne Worlds, came from behind to finish the third.
"I didn't do well in my second dive," said Luo, who was a hot favorite in the final as he led up the preliminaries and the semifinal.
Luo was the first after the first round, but his ranking fell down to the last after the second round.
"I tried my best to catch up," added Luo. "My teammates gave me lots of support. Except the second dive, I am satisfied with my performance today." Source: Xinhua
