Australia's 480 Olympic athletes will wear classic dark blue suits in super lightweight wool in competitions during the Beijing Olympics.
The formal team wardrobe was launched at Boy Charlton Pool in Sydney on Friday, just over five months before the Games.
The uniforms - tailored suits for both men and women - are designed and manufactured by Australian company Sports craft.
The suits are in a subtle blue pinstripe, which the designers say represents the coastline of the continent.
"From a design perspective those colors are a challenge to work with, particularly when they're together," the Australia Associated Press quoted Sports craft general manager Sonia Wong as saying.
"The blue pinstripe is inspired by the Australian coastline and we gave a nod to the green and gold with the accessories - ties for the men and cravats for the women."
The uniforms are for formal occasions. The clothes the athletes will wear when marching in the Opening Ceremony remain a secret until they appear in the Olympic Stadium on the evening of Aug. 8.
