Zhao Na of Liaoning won by a narrow margin in women's 101-kilometer race Tuesday at 11th National Games, marking the end of all the cycling events at the national meet.

Along the finishing straight, Zhao Na and three other riders reeled in the leading bunch. Zhao accelerated on the wheel, came from behind the shelter of two team-mates and squeezed forwards. The four crossed the line almost at the same time while Zhao's last minute dash for the line gave her the tiniest margin over the runner-up, her team-mate Liu Xiaohui.

Gao Min representing Hebei, also a Giant cycling team pro who gained the berth for Beijing Olympic Games, was a close third.

Only 25 cyclists out of 73 completed the hilly and windy race Tuesday, as the route is a typical mountain road which is more difficult than all the previous National Games.

"We put in great performances today," said Zhao, "We were all worn out at last…good tactics and good team-work this time."

Gao, who finished seventeenth in road cycling women's individual time trial at Beijing Olympic Games, cried over the lose after Tuesday's race. Zhao comforted Gao by hugging her and patting her on the back. "We are good friends actually," said Zhao.

"It is really cool to win," said Zhao, "My next goal is to win at next National Games to be held in my hometown Liaoning."
