Uganda's badminton star Edwin Ekiring has signed for Luxemburgish to play in the Germany badminton league.

Uganda's national badminton coach Simon Mugabi was quoted by Daily Monitor on Thursday as saying that the lanky Ugandan number one has inked a one-year deal with the German side.

"The club made consultations with us and there was no obstacle hindering the player from joining them. The federation is happy about the move because this will help the player keep active," said Mugabi.

The All Africa Games bronze medalist is currently in Germany on an Olympic Solidarity Course ahead of next year's Olympic Games in Beijing.

He has been in Germany since January and becomes the first Ugandan badminton player to play in a professional league.
