Real Madrid and also national team goalkeeper Iker Casillas announced on Wednesday that he had insured his hands for 7.5 million euros.
Casillas did not say how much the policy, which was signed at a promotional event with the Spanish insurance company Groupama Seguros, had cost him but it will only last until the end of the current season.
"Every person should have professional insurance and in my case this is in event of an injury which truncates my career," said Casillas.
Casillas has been capped 72 times by Spain and played in nearly 400 first team games for the Spanish giants, the only club he has ever played for.
