Everton has agreed a fee with Wigan to sign left back Leighton Baines.

The England under-21 international will have medical tests and discuss personal terms with the Toffees on Monday.

Baines turned down a transfer to Sunderland last week after the clubs had agreed a fee.

Wigan then rejected a bid from Everton of 4 million pounds (8.1 million US dollar) plus a player that Everton rated at 2 million pounds (4.1 million US dollar), reported to be Andy van der Meyde.

The details of the latest bid have not been released, but Wigan said last week it would not accept less than the 6 million pounds (12.2 million US dollar) Sunderland offered.

Baines joined Wigan in 2001 after being released by Liverpool, and was part of the Latics team that won promotion through two divisions. He won Wigan's Player of The Year award last season and played 154 games for the club.
