Italy showed their teeth Wednesday after being held by Mexico three days ago inQinhuangdao, breezing past Thailand 5-0 in their second match of the 2007 International Women's Soccer Invitational Tournament hereat the newly completed Wulihe Stadium.

The victory brought hopes back for the world number 13 team in bidding for a final berth in the Beijing Olympics venue-test event, which features four national teams including hosts China.

Italy skipper Patrizia Panico opened the scoring in the 19th minute when the 32-year-old forward was picked by the ball leaked out of the hand of Thailand's goalie Waraporn Boonsing who tried to save an attack in earlier seconds but ran too far from the mouth.

Midfielder Tatiana Zorri added the second for Italy just three minutes into the second half, before Panico scored another to makeit 3-0 in the 75th mintues after a superb solo run.

It's far from the end of Italy's scoring show. Substitute Silvia Fuselli, who was brought in by head coach Pietro Ghedin in the 59th minute to take the place of Melania Gabbiadini, broke through on goal from right of the box after being picked out by a lovely cross ball from the other side.

Just a minute later, Sukunya Peangthem's own goal awarded Italya 5-0 victory.

The more skilled Italians, however, did not gain much advantageon the youngster-packed Thai side from the very beginning.

Several long drives from the Thais surprisingly created opportunities in front of the rivals' goalmouth in the opening minutes, but none of them was good enough to be converted into goal.

Anootsara Mauarern hardly made breakthrough but the defender's powerful kick from the far left was cleared by Italian keeper Chiara Marchitelli.
