Japanese Olympic champion Koji Murofushi claimed his 13th straight national hammer throw title onSaturday, showing a normal form ahead of the athletics worlds.

Murofushi won with a heave of 79.24 metres at Osaka's Nagai Stadium, venue for the 2007 worlds, to break father Shigenobu's record total of 12 Japanese titles.

"I performed like I did in training and felt very comfortable,"Murofushi said.

The world athletics championships will be held in Osaka from Aug. 25 to Sept. 2.
